Nepotism has a price tag and former Lake County boss Mayor Robert Pastrick (East Chicago, IN) learned that even an old dog can be taught a new lesson: pay up, boy, pay up!

The 8-term mayor, successively re-elected through hook or crook, was foremost among a roster of political cronies - one councilman, Frank Kollinztas, absconded to Greece! - charged with defrauding taxpayers big time. How big? $108 MILLION dollars!

It took the Indiana Attorney General's office over a decade - and two successive mayors (East Chicagoians finally realized they could actually vote for somebody other than "Pastrick") - to nail the rats but his persistence (and patience) was rewarded with a legally historical judgement via the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statute (RICO). The squeaky gear of this political machine was the 1999 sidewalks-for-votes scheme (Pastrick 'won' that election). 

Of the $331,000 awarded to the City upfront, Pastrick directly ponied up $147, 416. That had to have hurt his retirement nest egg.  

PS: Of the two mayors since Robert Pastrick left city hall one, the man who dethroned him, is now serving time in federal prison for, what else?, public corruption. East Chicago!

It's mostly the government fearing to lose control as the wealth disparity widens and new jobs are primarily low-paying jobs, termed by Obama as creating "ladders of opportunity" - from Mc Donalds to Wendy's? The entire militarization of the US police is really in expectation that the population at some point will revolt - then the government will be prepared with machine guns, armored cars etc. It will be bloody and Obama won't clamor that he will impose sanctions if peaceful demonstrations are hit down - he will hit them down, no matter if peaceful or not - how could they be peaceful when against the government?

The illegal drugs were just an excuse to destroy a young white male. Cops are extremely jealous and hate young white affluent good looking males especially if the have a gorgeous girl in their vehicle. They are full of hate in general from years of being involved with violent sports and its made worse because no woman in her right mind would want to even be around them. Citizen killer, Jay Cicinelli is still off of the Fullerton Police Department - for now (but he's trying to get rehired) - and passing his time coaching little league baseball as well as teaching Sunday School. This would be admirable redemption if the sonofabitch was remotely remorseful for his psychotic actions.

No, I take that back. Cicinelli's utter lack of remorse and reeking hubris for killing defenseless homeless man Kelly Thomas is what makes this man so psychopathic. And now is the update, courtesy of OC Weekly, that Cicinelli is entrusted with instructing children. Wtf?! (And it is doubly hard to feel sorry for the man needing to do something to make ends meet as he cashes in over $40,000 in annual police pension benefits. All without a college degree. Wow!) 

Let a man tell an off-color joke or have a mistress or kill a dog and uptight Americana wants to burn you in effigy; but gleefully beat the life from a fellow human being or, as is just as often the course, shoot him into the afterlife and dyed-in-the-wool patriots defend the action as "necessary force".

I don't do hero worship, be they pigs on the red carpet or pigs in blue.

Hawaiian vice squads want to serve their missions completely because, as all lovers know, there is little as frustrating as coitus interruptus. They not only want to bust up prostitutes but they want to bust that nut too! Yes, the pigs in blue of Honolulu, sworn to protect & serve me and you, want immunity to have sex with the very prostitutes they are working undercover to arrest. (The only thing more unbelievable than the unintended puns & double entendres in the previous sentence is the 100% truth of it.)

Yes, right now Hawaiian lawmakers are debating a bill that would permit law enforcement to enjoy breaking the law in order to pretend enforcing it. Lord if I could make this shit up, I would be a better and richer screenwriter.

Job training program charged with money laundering

We Are Our Brother's Keepers, a Chicago-based job-training program proposed to pull up low-income blacks and Latinos living without any real shot out from under the disadvantaged poverty line, received a $1.25 million state grant in 2009. The program's target was to train 40 people with brick-laying and electrician skills. Not the most lofty careers but, then again, with construction being one of the fifth seasons in Chicago it would likely lead to steady work and, of course, earning a living from a day's honest work does a man good.

The final product of our training must be neither a psychologist nor a brick mason, but a man.

Unfortunately the IRS believes the only training being done was to the inside of the purse holders', well, purses. In a word, money laundering. And thousands of dollars' worth of it. The prosecutors have begun laying out their case in court. Personally, I always smell something fishy - and I don't like fish - in groups and places with such bona fide reassuring handles. I would never reside on, say, Wonderful Street or Happy Hills; marry a girl called Delight; donate to the coffers of Making The World A Better Place; or trust Homeland Security. If the title has to be that propagandized, then it is to lull you into a false sense of security, to mislead, to pull the old bait and switcheroony.

An American man was shot and killed yesterday after he refused to stop texting in the movie theatre. Can you honestly say you've never thought about it before yourself?

Yeah, it was senseless but rudeness is the first step towards violence. He should have died for something greater than being a jerk. And, guess what, he was shot to death by an old retired pig. Justified!

Indian diplomat showed the door

Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade, who was arrested a month ago in Manhattan for visa fraud (and mistreating her foreign maid), was released on bail and "asked" by the State Dept to leave the United States. So often is it the case that employers from the East use their servants as, essentially, slave labor. They don't pay the poor girls, verbally and emotionally (and sometimes physically) abuse them and, like Khobragade, dangle the threat of deportation.

This time, the high-and-mighty bitch got her comeuppance. Go home slave driver!

Stop-and-Frisk violated rights. Bloomberg unhappy

NYC was called to task for its unconstitutional Stop-and-Frisk protocol. It is unconstitutional because the practice directly went against the  individual's freedom from unreasonable and unwarranted searches and seizures (that's spelled out in the Fourth Amendment, by the way).
