Sunday night's Grammy Awards show was held in the Staple Center in downtown Los Angeles which, itself, lies mere blocks from the scary, infamous Skid Row. Inside the Staple Center a moving tribute and fundraiser were put front and center for the sake of Wyclef Jean's native Haiti----while just mere blocks away in skuzzy downtown L.A. trolls daily the inhabitants of Skid Row, ignored, destitute, rejected, and possessing nothing, not even, in some cases, sanity. Not a godblessed song was sung for our own wretched poor and homeless. Cry me a river. Charity starts at home.

But not just any cosmetic surgery. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons have reported an increase in breast operations among men. More and more men have expressed the willingness to go under the knife to rid themselves of dreaded man-boobs. So while the birds flock to have their fun bags enhanced, the dandies desire their own be reduced.
Some physicians and social critics point to the "pressure" from the influx of men's magazines as if any magazine outside of fly fishing, duck hunting or motorized vehicles ever sported any other type of image apart from a suave, aesthete, fit gentleman. Titties don't belong on males and no one wants to see them there. No culture craves man-boobs. Men's magazines are not to blame; unless through some perverse inverse of logic men sought to model their torsos after Russ Meyer vixens.
If the blokes----oooh look who's gone posh!-----can't see fit to incorporate regular exercise and push-ups into their lives, then they run the consequence of having their chests morph into a pair of breasts. Barring the sensible change in lifestyle one might consider strapping his titties down with a corset or, as the news indicate, slice them down to man size via the surgeon's scalpel.

Who put the 'afro' in aphrodisiac? I don't know, but South African president Jacob Zuma comes to mind. The old man, 67, has been found to have sired a "love child" with a thirty-nine year old daughter of a family friend. Mr Zuma, a proud Zulu, has been married five times and currently has three wives (wife #3 is a plump thirty-six)----plus a fiancee. Pimp daddy! Go head with yo old bad self! Understandably his critics have blasted him a hypocrite and sex addict.
While the president's governing skills and moral guard are questionable, his mojo certainly is not. As the father of nineteen children, Mr Zuma knows

If Africans don't die first of starvation or guerrilla warfare, then the AIDS disease will get them. It is also now common knowledge not to leave one's daughters around Jacob Zuma.

Paranoia causes security scare

In the latest reported airplane scare a young Orthodox Jew's religious equipment sent off suspicion and concern. The boxes he was strapping to himself (phylacteries) appeared to one passenger akin to explosive devices and this alarmed passenger alerted the plane staff who, in turn, alerted the pilot and the plane was promptly diverted to Philadelphia.
Turns out the phylacteries were as innocuous, if not a tad ridiculous, as a birthday party clown. But, hey, who knows in this day-and-age, right? After all, if fingernail clippers, water bottles and pen knives can torpedo a plane out of the sky, why shouldn't undue suspicion be aroused by dynamite looking objects?
Mike Krumboltz suggests this episode "clearly highlights the need for more cultural understanding." Really? Sounds to me like Mr Krumboltz is giving this incident an unwarranted anti-Semitic claim. In fact, the entire piece reads tolerantly of this airplane scare. I doubt the same measure of tolerance or "cultural understanding" would be shown were the individual Arab looking or dark skinned. Were Mr Krumboltz to express two cents on the reversed scenario I think it unlikely the man would forgive it as cultural misunderstanding; rather the sentiment would ring along the lines of better-safe-than-sorry. This latest scare isn't any less preposterous or more offensive just because the suspect was a Jew.

I return to Mexico so often because I like the easy living and weather and language, but its charming primitiveness is fast on its way to returning to barbarism. Already a Third World country known for its poverty, cheap labor, drugs and soccer, Mexico's traditions are itching to re-light a powder keg that will have blood running in the streets and heads poached on sticks...or used by twisted beaners as soccer balls.
No drug trafficking mayhem is evident here in beautiful, touristy, homophilic Puerto Vallarta; but I probably wont be returning next year.
Today, sixty-nine---sixty-nine!---murders blotted pig scanners. Sixty-nine murders in one day. Lest you mistake them for simple gun slinging desperados the henchmen are fond of torture and chopping up bodies and discarding the remains in public as gruesome calling cards. Destruction is not removed from creativity. One victim, a word to be applied loosely as nearly all the unfortunates tend to have some connection to the cartels, was a former pig whose face was removed and stitched on to a soccer ball. They do love soccer!
Poverty is NOT at the root of this diabolical terror. Nor is illiteracy. Loads of places have poor and stupid and unhappy people but they don't reek havoc and terrorism on the country because they're, what?, without. Mexicans like to brag about being, among other things, the happiest people in the world. Some rag like Reader's Digest, which a few years back also purported NYC was the most hospitable American city, gave them such an advancement and they cling to it. In 1999 we were anxious to party like Prince told us to. But in Mexico they have anxieties to coup like it's 1910...or 1810; either one would fulfill their superstitions. A decade's long overthrow ensued two centuries ago and it was followed by another decade's long regime tussle exactly one century later. Both were ruthless and bloody. President Calderon vows the curse has had its day. However, with drug war violence running at an all time high and inbred superstition running higher still, it is comprehensible why the actualization of this self-fulfilled prophecy has the natives restless. For years I've heard 2010 spoken of glowingly. As if it represented the Second Coming of Christ. Hang the public denials: This.is.wanted. In Mexico it ain't worthwhile change unless it is loud, senseless, and bloody.

I went to see 2012---twice. Am geeked by the subject, the trailer and reviews are smashing, and like watching John Cusack movies.
The roller coaster of natural disasters had me on the edge of my seat, jumping at supercalafragalistic ex- and implosions and morbidly laughing at bodies meeting their demises. For example, early on there's an anxious elderly motorist who cautions her geriatric passenger, Hold on to those eggs dear, just before plowing head on into the road cum wall. Hope they used coupons.
I have to admit I totally did not catch the Biblical Ark reference after the first viewing, even though in the movie they call the gigantic, megaton nautical "countries" arks. Someone had to point it out to me. Hey, in my defence, qvandoqve bonvs dormitat homervs ("even Homer nods"). Anyway, God said it would be fire next time. So there.
In honour to the year 2012 I've respectfully added a mindful timer to the page. Bon voyage.

The abbreviated form, and we're certainly not unaccustomed to abbreviations, dates back centuries when scholars and informed peoples, commonly read things in Latin or Greek. It has nothing to do with retailers.
In Greek the prophet was called Christos. Christos is spelled with the X (chi, pronounced like a hard k) + r (rho) and when these Greek symbols are paired together the word appears as a modern-day P overlapped with an X

rho letter in lieu of the more pronounced X but, in sum, Xmas is not a diss to Christianity or secularization of the holiday. Xmas is respectful and informed shorthand for Christmas. Tsk, tsk, tsk...leave it to the faithful flock to not know squat.

How little I regard the war

In the beginning I believed the Iraq War had merit. In the beginning I believed our forces had virtue and strategy and would win. In the beginning I believed the cause and effects of the fighting would benefit the American people and country, and, naturally, the world. In the beginning I was conscious of the war and the ticker-tape of casualties. Now; now, I'm not conscious of it. Now, the beginning seems so long ago.
In going through my archives I noticed there was only one entry on the war. Strange, I thought, seeing as how the Obama Administration (not "we") is engaged in two wars just like his predecessor.
Not all of us have loved ones in the militaryTwo wars and, yet, I barely register them. I regard them so little that I can't care less about contributing commentary to the fold. So do these wars still matter...for anyone outside of the White House and soldiers' families? Not all of us have loved ones in the military (or private contracting businesses).

I'd just finished writing about the drunk bitch on the train tracks and was happily on my way out to the beach when I noticed a VW beetle literally on the steps of a neighboring apt building. It looked like a Transformer was caught in the act of walking up the steps before hurriedly reverting to his automobile form. But the incident was zero science fiction and at least 180 proof drunk Mexican. He was unhurt (of course) but, man, if he wasn't three sheets to the wind, then he was five.
There he swayed, blood-shot eyes and a mess, wondering aloud to the two traffic officials who showed up, Oye what's the big deal? It looked unbelievable---too good a piece to pass up---so I went back inside, grabbed my netbook and, being the clever boy that I am, pretended to search for an Internet signal all the while snapping shots with its built-in camera of the one-car accident. I live three miles to the sky atop a steep hill and, from the looks of it, drunk Speedy Gonzalez backed out over the stairs. Damn those rear view mirrors and their misleading objects-may-appear-closer-than-they-actually-are warnings. Whoops, up and over goes the beetle!
The following was overheard (am not making this up):
"I have to drive to work," explained the fool in his composed inebriated state.
"But, look," said the officials, pointing to the accident scene, "you can't drive."

Mexico has legalized same-sex marriage. And?
My lack of faith in marriage hardly needs further encouragement but this "historical" sham by our Third World neighbor is further proof that marriage is whatever the hell you think constitutes it. As the legislature pats itself on the back for some supposed advancement in civil rights let's give a one-handed clap and ask, And?
Now that Juan and Jose can cement their love---where? in a Catholic church?---and sneer at America for being backwards what real progress has Mexico made on any real front?
It is still common practice for prosecutors to punish rapists by obligating them to marry their victims. What a bright idea! Forget earning cents to the peso, women are downright simply second-class citizens; the reality is cruder for indigenous people---whom Mexicans slander as "Indians"---as a whole. Sexual harassment hasn't even reached the debate of being politically incorrect. Nearly all indoor jobs go to femenino applicants while masculino applicants with zero education work outdoor jobs. Jane clean, Tarzan swing. The largely unsolved 400+ female homicides since 1993 in Ciudad Juarez is still hopefully under investigation (click here).
The education system, like the court system and driving regulations, is incomprehensible to a foreigner. I know citizens who have no education and the social graces to prove it, and then those who perpetually re-enroll in universidad armed with a vocabulary loyal to freshman year and, yet, there is not a chasm of difference betwixt their worldview or economic or social standings. They say school is mandatory but I see school-age children during all hours of the day, night and late night.

The stigma of "living in sin" or co-habitation is hardly existent, enough suckers have already bailed, id est divorced, to clue in would-be suckers to beware, monogamy, though dime-book romantic, is unappealing and contra Nature, a total societal construct if ever there was one; consequently, adultery is highly stigmatized and heavily punished by divorce courts, independence gives way to conformity in a way that leaves many people vexed and justifying their miserable existences to bands of others whom they are obligated to sustain (unless, that is, they esteem their existence via the unskilled act of reproducing), it is expensive financially and emotionally.
All this brings me to the latest affront on marriage: a Japanese man has wed his computer. A young Japanese was so committed to his favorite video game that he - swear to God, am not making this up - that he "married" the virtual character before some forty well-wishers or as I regard them, other morons. They met on the video simulation game, Love Plus.
Admittedly, the video game character is controllable and does have big tits but she...is...a...virtual...character. Not real. More unreal than the biggest silicone titties or nip/tuck job known to Man. As far removed from reality as Neverland; Or the thing I grew up knowing as marriage.

As a mother she feels entitled to essentially abduct the son because, as so many morons believe, fathers don't really have inherent bonds with their offspring and can't love them as a mother can.
After years of legal wrangling and senseless drama a Brazilian court has finally ruled in favor of Mr Goldman and ordered the boy be taken to the American Consulate by Friday, December 18th to be then returned to his father in America.

The American Psychological Association (APA) now declares at least one form of therapy to be bogus: gay-to-straight counseling. They've yet to come clean on the other 1002 expensive, useless, intrusive batteries administered by equally expensive, spuriously useless, utterly intrusive psychologists. But this bias towards gayness is amazing.
Of all human behaviours and misbehaviours the APA would have us believe that, above all, sexual behaviour cannot be manipulated? Gay-to-straight therapy is not just about a homosexual person working towards functioning heterosexuality; it is, in sum, about sexual orientation. If a same-sex orientation cannot be helped, changed, altered, redirected then where does this leave sexual offenders?
By declaring worthless and bigoted any therapy which aims homosexuals towards normal opposite-sex behaviour, the pro-gay APA, in effect, repudiates all psychological treatments for healthy sexual behaviour.
I do not accept this foolishness because it discredits will power, volition, ambition, re-education. It means pedophiles cannot turn away from pedophilia; adulterers cannot refrain from adultry; rapists cannot resist raping; incestmongers cannot refrain from incest; chronic masturbators cannot keep their hands off themselves; animal molesters cannot turn away from bestiality; porn addicts cannot keep from porn; sadists cannot enjoy sex without inflicting pain, and masochists cannot enjoy the same without receiving pain; and arsonists who get off from arsony are hopeless fire bugs.

It should come as no surprise, therefore, that many practicing homosexuals or homosexually curious persons are not happy with themselves. They want to change and have done so. They want to be straight. They want to be ex-gay. Too bad, according to the APA (and folks like Mr Besen). The un-happy homo is happy but he just fails to realize it. Put another way, Go wallow in your cum-dumping, Tom of Finland and boy-love misery until you get loud and proud.

This means a man is what he is and he cannot change, let alone hope, to be any thing different. His track is laid for him and his destiny is sealed. Well. If that's the nail in the coffin, then what further need have we for psychologists?
