Everyone was living a big lie — the homosexuals were trying to hide their sexual orientation and the commanders were looking the other way because they didn't want to disrupt operations by trying to enforce the law
This said Navy Vice Admiral Shanahan, noting the lack of integrity required towards enforcing the "Don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue" law. And where was this "lack of integrity" before the Clinton administration when recruiters did directly interview, Are you a homosexual or Have you ever engaged in homosexual activity, and, if so, then get the hell outta here!??
A California-based research center claims homosexuals do not undermine military cohesion and is petitioning Congress to allow soldiers to be openly homosexual. The study panel includes support from retired brass. Big whoop.
It's easy to say, Why not? Let's do it, when you don't have to be among the 'it' getting done...don't-look-me-in-the-eyes-or-question-my-orders generals
Just look at Congress: Not a single senator's son or daughter is fighting in this Blunder war.
